# Control

The Control module lets administrators verify that tasks were done and had the intended result.

{% hint style="info" %}
Control is an optional module. It is available on paid purchase in addition to the standard Ruler profiles.
{% endhint %}

Assigning a task is not the same as knowing it was done well. The Control module gives administrators a place to review tasks and Inbox items, to **ignore** the ones that need no further attention, and to create a **control task** where the completion needs to be verified or the result was insufficient.

In the menu, hover over **Control** and choose **Task control** or **Inbox control**. Besides administrators, users who have been given the permission **Can access inbox and task control** can use the module. See [Users](/administration/users.md).

**Ruler in practice**

As administrator you want to verify two things: that tasks are actually completed by the people responsible for them, and that completing them led to the intended result, such as a mitigated risk. Where a task was not completed correctly, or the result does not bring the risk to an acceptable level, create a follow-up control task.
