Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://docs.ruler.nl/control/inbox-control.md). # Inbox control Review Inbox items per department, ignore what needs no attention, and create control tasks where it does. **Inbox control** lists the Inbox items your organisation received, grouped by month. Each row shows the Inbox message, the department it was sent to, its **Inbox status** in that department (for example *New*) and the date.

An item sent to several departments shows the number of departments, for example *10 departments*, and an arrow in front of its title. Click the arrow to show one row per department, each with its own Inbox status. Click it again to collapse.

## Filtering Use **Filter** to change the view: * **View**: **New inbox items**, **Ignored inbox items**, **Control task created** or **All inbox items** * **Departments**: by default, **Inbox items for all departments**; or **Inbox items for current department** * **Date from** and **Date to**: review the Inbox items of a specific period

## Ignoring and control tasks Ignoring an item, creating a control task and selecting several items at once work the same way as in [Task control](/control/task-control.md): hover over a row to show its buttons, or tick its checkbox.
