# Task control

Review tasks month by month, ignore what needs no attention, and create control tasks where it does.

**Task control** lists tasks grouped by month. Each month shows how many of its tasks are open and how many are closed, for example *10 open tasks / 0 closed*. Each row shows the task with its tags and executors, the department, the date of creation and the priority.

By default the page shows **New tasks**: tasks you have not yet reviewed.

## Filtering

Use **Filter** to change the view:

* **View**: **New tasks**, **Ignored tasks**, **Task control created** or **All tasks**
* **Link type**: what the task is linked to, such as generic tasks, an Inbox item, a control measure, a risk, a risk assessment, a monitoring report or a topic
* **Departments**: by default, **Tasks of current department**

## Reviewing a task

Hover over a task to show two buttons on the right of its row:

* **Ignore** (a shield with a line through it): mark the task as reviewed with no further action. The **Ignore task** pop-up asks for an **Explanation**, which is stored with the task. Click **Ignore**.
* **Create control task** (a shield with a plus): open the **New control task** form.

## Handling several tasks at once

Hover over the coloured bar at the left of a row to show its checkbox, and tick the tasks you want. A bar at the bottom of the page shows how many tasks are selected, with the same ignore and control task buttons. Click the cross in that bar to clear the selection.

## Creating a control task

The **New control task** form shows the selected task, its department and the topic it is linked to. Describe the control task, add notes, choose the executor(s), and set a start date, deadline, priority and tags. Tick **Include this task in the monitoring agenda** if it belongs on the [monitoring agenda](/monitoring/monitoring-agenda.md). Click **Save**.

In other words, a control task is a normal task with a link back to the task it checks.

To see the tasks you have already followed up, set **View** to **Task control created**.
