# The topic page

Everything on a topic's detail page, from the editorial summary to the list of relevant articles.

The topic page is where you read what a standard requires and record how your organisation meets it. The breadcrumb at the top shows the path you took: Legal Framework, the theme, and the topic.

## Summary

The centre of the page is the summary written by Ruler's editors. It explains what the topic is about and which regulation applies, in plain language, so you do not have to start from the legal text.

## Design and effectiveness

On the right you see two blocks, **Design** and **Effectiveness**, each with the date it was last assessed. Click either block to open the assessment page. See [Assessing design and effectiveness](/legal-framework/assessing-design-and-effectiveness.md).

## Tasks

Below the assessment blocks, a tasks block shows how many tasks are linked to the topic (open, closed and archived) and the first upcoming deadline.

## Radar link

If the topic is affected by an item on the Radar, this is shown on the right as well, under **Radar topics**. Click through to read what is coming.

## Relevant articles and documents

Further down on the right is the list of everything the editors consider relevant to the topic. The range is wide: articles from EU regulation, national law, guidance from European and national regulators, and documents from the Ministry of Finance. Items are grouped by **type** (formal legislation, guidance, and so on), **level** (European, Dutch) and **drafter** (legislator, regulator). Click any item to open it.

When an article stops being relevant, Ruler marks it in orange for one month before removing it from the list, so you can see what changed.
