# Monitoring

Monitoring is how you demonstrate that your control measures and compliance policy have the intended effect.

Monitoring closes the compliance cycle. Having recorded which regulation applies, how you comply and which risks remain, monitoring is where you continuously check that business activities still meet the standards you set, and that your control measures and compliance policy have the desired effect.

Monitoring in Ruler has two parts:
