# Laws and regulations

Read any law or regulation in Ruler, and jump from an article to the topics it belongs to.

**Laws and regulations** lists every law and regulation in Ruler, financial and non-financial, as a grid of titles. Use the search bar to find one, or the filter chips to show only certain categories, such as **EU Regulations (level 1)**, **EU Directives (level 1)**, **EU Regulations and Directives (level 2)**, **National legislation**, **National lower legislation**, or the consultation and proposal categories.

## Reading a law

Click a law to open it. The left-hand pane shows its structure, chapter by chapter and article by article; the main pane shows the text. Laws are updated automatically, so the text you read is always the current one.

## From an article to your topics

Above an article you may see a box **Linked topics**. It lists the topics in your Legal Framework that this article belongs to, with their design and effectiveness scores. Click a topic to go straight to it and carry out any follow-up there.

New to Ruler, or new to the Legal Framework? Reading a law you know well and following the linked topics is a quick way to learn how Ruler has organised the regulation into themes and topics.
