# All tasks

The overview of every open task in your organisation, and how to complete one.

**Tasks** in the menu opens **All tasks**: every outstanding task in your organisation, grouped into **Overdue** and **From today**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
By default the page shows only tasks assigned to you. To see colleagues' tasks, open **Filter** and set **Employees** to **Tasks of everyone**.
{% endhint %}

## Reading the list

Each row shows:

* An icon for what the task is linked to (Inbox, Radar, risk, topic, and so on), or a plain marker for a generic task
* The task description and any tags; a repeating task has a repeat icon, and a task from a template shows how many subtasks are done
* The executors' initials
* Start date, deadline and priority

Overdue deadlines are shown in red.

## Filtering

Use **Filter** to narrow the list by:

* **Linked to type**: the component of Ruler the task was created from
* **Employees**: **My tasks** or **Tasks of everyone**
* **Status**: open or completed
* **Tags**
* **Departments**: by default, tasks of the department you are working in

## Grouping by linked item

Switch from the list view to **Grouped view** to see tasks under the topic, radar item or alert they were created from. This shows at a glance how much follow-up a single change has generated.

## Completing a task

Click the circle in front of a task to complete it. Ruler asks for a **Motivation** explaining how the task was completed, and lets you add an attachment as evidence with **Select file**. Click **Complete task**. The task is archived and disappears from All tasks; the explanation and attachment stay with the task and with the item it was linked to.

## Creating a task from here

The **+ Create task** button at the top right creates a generic task. See [Creating a task](/tasks/creating-a-task.md).
